Jesus Falls under the Weight
of the Cross

We adore You O Christ and we bless You,

Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.

The rough, heavy wood of the Cross is too much for Jesus who is already weakened by the soldier's abuse. His strength is waning and He collapses.
God lies in the dust!
The burden of the Cross......the burden of the rules of our faith

In the boldness of youth I pledged to obey them, the cross of the oil of chrism glistening on my forehead in the light of my confirmation candle.... It was easy then, yes of course I reject satan and all his works, put like that who wouldn't.  Yet how soon the candle went out and the harsh realities of discipleship kicked in, the pulls of earthly life were too great to resist....pride, covetousness, lust, envy, gluttony sloth and anger...all seemed a much better path in the arrogance of my youth than obeying your Ten Commandments. So I fell, deliberately, regardless of who in was hurting. Yet only when You picked me up did I realise who I had really hurt...
.....myself.

Candle Let us pray for  young people around the world as they enter adult life,
For all who will be baptised or are approaching confirmation,
For all who are taking holy orders or religious vows,
All Postulants,  Novices, Oblates,  Tertiaries and Companions.

And for each Pilgrrim following these Stations:

Lord Jesus be with each of us in our daily lives, protect us from the hidden snares of satan and keep our candles burning in our hearts and souls
Most sacred heart of Jesus have mercy on us;  Most sacred heart of Jesus have mercy on us; Most sacred heart of Jesus have mercy on us .......
