Jesus
receives His Cross We adore You O Christ and we bless You, Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the worldBlood
spattered and weakened by the cruel scourge, Jesus is forced to carry
the
instrument of His own death on His shoulders, to the what is called the
Place
of the Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha and so in
courageous obedience
to the Father's will, Jesus accepts His burden
|
|
But
He
didn't, He willingly accepted, in complete obedience because He knew
that
although His suffering would be unbearable, His love for us went way
beyond the
horrors which lay ahead. They say no
greater love can any man show than to lay down his life for another...well,
what about a life freely given in spite of all the pain and fear amidst
the
jeers, sneers and insults spewing from the mouths of those He was dying
for?
Lord Jesus
you said if anyone would come after You they must deny themselves, take
up
their crosses and follow You... Following You isn’t easy,
it means sacrifice and isolation... but it’s never
boring! Lord when I
think of the Cross in my Pocket;
remind me of the pain You endured carrying the
original...for me O Saviour of the world, by
Your cross
and precious blood, You have redeemed us. Save us and help us we humbly beseech
You O Lord. |
