It was the
Day of Preparation,
Passover Eve, so an urgency grew to remove the embarrassing bodies from
view to prevent contamination of the Sabbath.
The screams and groans of the dying men had stopped, leaving a morbid
silence over Calvary. It was broken only by the sound of the weeping
mourners.
Among them was Mary ever faithful to God, ever loyal to her Son
Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the Council and secret
follower of Jesus had been to Pilate and claimed Jesus' body and, after
gently removing Him from the Cross, laid Him in His weeping mother’s
arms.
The prophecy of Simeon was fulfilled
