Jesus is stripped of His garments
We adore You O Christ
and we bless
You, Because by Your
Holy Cross You have
redeemed the world.
Torn by the scourging
Hypovolaemic from the blood loss
Exhausted by the weight of the Cross
Crushed by the abuse and now the soldiers add humiliation to the agenda
as they rip every stitch of his garments from Him
Then, adding insult to injury, they gamble for the best of His clothing
made by His mother. Naked before all; male and female, young and old,
Jew and Gentile, Roman soldier and High Priest.
Lord Jesus, I am ashamed to
belong to the same species as those capable of this!
But whilst I’m blocking my
mind to the image a naked Christ, let my Cross in my Pocket never let me forget that one day, when
my mortality terminates, I will have to stand in front of you in full
view,
Not for an assessment of my
physical form, but on my spiritual worth.
No shroud then will I have
to protect me,
No excuses, lies or feeble
halftruth explanations will I then have to conceal the actions of the
life I chose to live

of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace
