Jesus is Condemned to death

Jesus is condemned to death

We adore You O Christ and we bless You,

Because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world

Pilate said to them: “Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Messiah?”     All of them shouted   “Let Him be crucified!” So he asked them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Let Him be crucified” so when Pilate saw that he could do nothing, but a rather a riot was beginning, he took some water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying   “I am innocent of this man's blood, see to it yourselves”

Pilate asked –“What has this man done?” –
Someon in the crowd says:  "That’s easy - does anyone know the Aramaic for  we don’t want this personal responsibly bit?
Come on   let's leave reconciliation the them in the temples with the fancy outfits and headgear  -or the cassocks and collars – let them sort it out, we’ll give 'em a couple of goats or lambs, unblemished of course – or our Sunday act of penitence etc
And as for this giving all to the poor bit... Yeah right!"

Lord Jesus forgive me the many times when I too have washed my hands of You and Your message to love one another- every time I’ve deliberately turned away from a beggar or Big Issue seller or condemned the non-english speaking immigrant for being here and claiming benefits. I may as well have been in that crowd shouting Crucify Him.

Lord, when I look at my Cross in my Pocket, remind me that the blessings of the heritage of my birthplace are gifts from You. Let me not horde them like a spoilt child at Christmas, but give me the grace to share. Remind me that all are your children and whatever I choose to do to the least of my brethren, that is what I choose to do to You.
