Prayer for the
World
Almighty God, Father of mercy and of grace
We acknowledge that we are sinners even though we try to follow Jesus,
but as we look at our World, it seems to be gripped by evil.
Lives are polluted by selfishness, greed, idolatry and lust and our
hearts are grieved by corruption, injustice and hatred.
We mourn all loss of life in murder, war and terrorism and
seek Your comfort for those who have lost loved ones.
We accept that we live in a dangerous world where disease,
accident and natural disaster continue to distress us,
but we plead for Your grace for those who suffer and we mourn
with those who lose loved ones and pray for their comfort.
We are shamed by the difference between rich and poor lifestyles and
expectations and the fact that many are hungry, have no clean water or
sanitation
and minimal access to medical help. We acknowledge that we could do so
much more to alleviate these things and we pray for an increase in our
compassion.
We pray for the safety and comfort of all charity workers and
especially for those who seek to spread the knowledge of Jesus.
In the end Lord Jesus we continue to be dismayed by all these things
and we plead for Your mercy and the coming of Your Kingdom..
