Thank God for Bed

And God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.
Jesus Said:
While it is day I must work the works of Him that sent me,  the night cometh, when no man can work.

At the ending of the day and in the darkness and silence of the night I shall praise Him.
From the warmth and snugness of my bed: I shall praise Him.
As I leave behind the day I shall praise Him.
The phone will not ring and noone will visit, the night is mine and I shall praise Him.
Beside my pillow I stretch out my hand and the Hand of the Lord rests upon it,
gently reassuring, gently forgiving, gently encouraging my trust.
The Hand of the Father protect me.
The hands of Jesus forgive me.
The hands of The Spirit refresh me in sleep.
O Bless You dear God  for inventing night, sleep and bed.
As I enjoy mine, I remember those who cannot sleep in peace:
Those who have no bed or roof to shelter it;
Those who are afraid of dangers around them;
Those who are hungry or in pain or in distress;
All these I bring to Your loving hands and bid You respond to their needs.
And tomorrow remind me to respond too.
Amen.
